Marie-Claude Chappuis, mezzo-soprano Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne directed by Jean-Claude Fasel Quatuor Sine Nomine met Marc-Antoine Bonanomi, contrabas Anne Bassand, harp
The ‘Mirror of Jesus’ (the ‘new Adam’) is his mother Mary (the ‘new Eve’). In a variation of the fifteen traditional Rosary mysteries the poet-convert Henri Ghéon demonstrates his life and suffering as experienced by her, a symbiosis of mother and divine son. This masterpiece by André Caplet, known especially as friend and assistant of Debussy, is seldom performed because of its highly unusual instrumentation. |
